Looking back on Summer 2010

So with one year of school to go I decided that the summer would be the time to plan out my 30sec short story idea. I've been thinking about it for 6 months in my head but now it was time to execute the plan. And as always... it was quite the adventure. I have this tendency to not be able to make up my mind and keep adding, and well that happened here.

The concept here was going to be the story of an elderly woman with Alzheimer's who just lost her husband and has to learn to adjust and be on her own. Her own condition though has brought her to her breaking point and the short was going to tell of her fall and move to a nursing home.

Lost? Yeah it became apparent that there was no way I could convey all of this in 30sec... it's impossible. That's when I reminded myself to KISS.

Keep it simple stupid.

So here are the preliminary drawings for the idea I had. Next post I'll show how I feel I came full circle and now I'm on the right track with a more simplifying and yet rewarding short story.

Starting to find a happy medium?

Realistic once again.
Then there was the realistic look which I realized was maybe too much.
This is where I started, aiming for a more cartoony look but realizing I wasn't happy with the result.
